Former Rocky Mount officer sentenced to over three years in federal prison
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) - A former Rocky Mount police officer was sentenced to over three years in federal prison for the possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
56-year-old Linc Brooks was arrested in January 2023 after an investigation into his connection to cocaine trafficking, the office said. Nash County deputies pulled him over on I-95, and Brooks had almost 7 ounces of cocaine in his car.
A search of Brooks’ home led to the seizure of materials for drug distribution, guns and marijuana, the release stated. His involvement in cocaine trafficking dated back to the early 2000’s, revealed by a DEA investigation.
During the investigation in 2022, a drug trafficker told agents Brooks had been selling up to about 176 ounces of cocaine at a time, according to the office.
Brooks retired from the police department back in 2006.
