‘I bring receipts’: Sheriff Paula Dance plans to address ‘underbelly of politics’ in social media post
PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Pitt County Sheriff Paula Dance says she will be revealing disturbing events in the coming days following a recent tragedy experienced by her office.
In a Facebook post Saturday morning, Dance says, “In the coming days, I will begin to inform you all of the underbelly of politics that has occurred since the recent tragedy experienced by my office.” The recent tragedy is likely referring to the June 11 passing of Pitt County K9 Chilli.
Dance says she will not discuss the specific case because of the ongoing investigation, but said she plans to address “a concerted effort to undermine my role as Sheriff,” according to the post.
Dance did not specify the efforts in the post.
According to the social media post, Dance says she will be cutting off comments during the posts. She adds, “because I do not want to be distracted while revealing disturbing events.”
Dance ended the post with, “And y’all already know... I bring receipts! Stay tuned...”
The SBI accepted a formal request to investigate the death of K9 Chilli.
