Onslow County road closed for paving set to reopen at later date

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Construction on an Onslow County road has been extended through next month.

A section of Walton Road near Highway 24 closed April 13 for paving and reconstruction at the railroad crossing.

NCDOT says the road is now expected to reopen on June 16 due to unforeseen site conditions. It was originally set to reopen on May 29.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone and follow the posted detour route.
