LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) - A school district teacher assistant was reportedly caught on a school surveillance camera dragging a student across the floor.

According to a Las Vegas police arrest report, officers responded to a reported battery between a staff member and a student at J. E. Manch Elementary School on Jan. 8.

Police said several students witnessed the teacher assistant, later identified as Zachary May, 21, drag a student out of the classroom after the student allegedly refused to leave that day.

The arrest report said the students quickly told school administrators about what happened.

The assistant principal told police the incident was captured on surveillance cameras. May could be seen dragging the student about 30 feet down a hallway.

May was also seen hovering over the student at one point, the report said.

Officials with the Clark County School District Police Department arrested the 21-year-old on Jan. 9.

Police said May was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of battery on a vulnerable person and abuse and neglect of a child.
