Man dies following crash just after attending relative’s funeral, coroner says
ANDERSON, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) - South Carolina authorities say a person has died in a crash just after attending a relative’s funeral.
According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred Tuesday afternoon when a vehicle driving north on Highway 29 rear-ended another car before colliding with a tractor-trailer.
The man was airlifted to Prisma Health Trauma Center, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The coroner identified him as 73-year-old Dwayne Kenneth Stegall.
The South Carolina resident was traveling home from attending a relative’s funeral before the crash, the coroner noted.
Stegall’s cause of death was listed as multiple traumatic injuries with blunt force trauma.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation.
