MARTIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The state Department of Environmental Quality has issued a modified air quality permit to a paper company in Martin County.
The Title V permit allows Domtar Paper Company to increase the amount of annual green logs processed at its woodyard from 2.2 million tons to a limit of 4.4 million tons.
According to a news release, Domtar is required to implement the best control technology and practices at its woodyard because the permit increases emissions of volatile organic compounds.
The DEQ says that the modified permit complies with health-based emission and air quality standards, and the facility will undergo record-keeping and regular inspections.
