Washington man killed in early morning Pitt County crash

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Washington man has died after a crash in Pitt County this morning.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says 37-year-old Patrick Bell was driving east on Highway 102 near Madison Hardee Road around 4:45 a.m. when his vehicle ran off the road to the right, hit a ditch and overturned.

Bell was not wearing his seatbelt at the time and was thrown from the car, according to troopers.

Bell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say speed, lane control, and no seatbelt were contributing factors.
