Two stationed at Camp Lejeune honored with GEICO awards
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (WITN) -Two military personnel in the East were recognized for their hard work last year.
The two from Camp Lejeune were recognized for their service with the 2024 GEICO Military Service Awards, which were given to seven recipients.
The first recognized was Religious Program Specialist Officer First Class Nancy Guillermo, who is in the Navy. The release cites Guillermo’s impact at home and abroad in the Mediterranean through her humanitarian work, such as hand-weaving soccer nets and enriching adults with disabilities, for the award.
Second was Sergeant Malika Haines of the Marine Corps. GEICO cites Haines’ volunteering with high school and youth athletics while fulfilling her duties as a unit readiness officer for her award. It also says Haines has completed the requirements to be promoted.
GEICO has been giving out the awards in 1988.
