EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Granville County man is facing charges after officials say he dragged a deputy while trying to escape a traffic stop outside of Tarboro.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled Travion Pierce of Stem over on US 64 W near the Howard Ave Extension overpass Friday.

During the stop, officials say Pierce tried to drive away, dragging the deputy for a short distance.

The deputy was able to eventually disable the vehicle, and they were not injured.

The 22-year-old is charged with Flee to Elude Arrest, Assault on a Government Official, Resisting Public Officer and Driving While License Revoked.

He was placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $35,000 bond.
