GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A high school here in the east celebrated the opening of an on campus student health services clinic and facility to help students have quicker access to care.

To help enhance the well-being of students and staff in Pitt County, the formal opening of Contentnea student health services clinic at J.H. Rose High School was announced Wednesday morning.

According to officials, it is a collaborative initiative between Contentnea Health and Pitt County Schools. Pitt County schools interim Executive Director of student services, Sara English, says this is the first of its kind in Pitt County.

“This really does remove a ton of barriers - the beautiful thing about this is that they accept all insurances and if people don’t have insurance they will work with them on a slighting scale but no one is turned away as long as they are a pitt county student or staff member,” English said.

Conveniently located on the JHR campus, the clinic offers both walk-in and appointment-based medical and behavioral health services.

According to Contentnea Health CEO, Melissa Torres, this is the second school location in the eastern region. The other is in Greene County. According to Torres, they decide where to poisiton their clinics based off needs based assessments.

“What is it that is lacking for the students and what are they not able to get so we take all that information and build our project based on that,” Torres said.

According to English, the clinic will accept all insurances and will work with students and staff who do not have insurance as long as they are a Pitt County student or staff member.
