Mike Houston: “We played with a different edge Saturday”

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - East Carolina defeated UT San Antonio Saturday 30-20 after the defense came up with five second-half turnovers to hold off the Roadrunners.

Two days later, Coach Mike Houston was still raving about their effort.

“I thought we played with a lot of energy, a lot of physicality, and I showed a little cut-up to the team, I tried to show just a little spots, because offense never sees the defense play, so I showed them before we went out for practice Sunday, but the physicality our defense played with Saturday is exactly what we want. We had a great pursuit to the ball, but I thought we played with a different edge Saturday.”

The Pirates are now 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in the American Athletic Conference (AAC).

This Saturday, they play in Charlotte against the 49ers (2-3) at 3:30 p.m..
