Man critical after deputy-involved shooting in Nash County
NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The SBI is investigating a deputy-involved shooting this morning that left a Nash County man with critical injuries.
The Nash County Sheriff’s Office says around 12:30 a.m. they were called to a home on Reges Store Road outside of Nashville to serve a warrant against James Breheim in a domestic violence case.
Deputies say they knocked at the front door, while other deputies covered the back of the home.
They encountered Breheim leaving the back door with a gun in his hand. Sheriff Keith Stone says Breheim fired first at deputies, who returned fire.
No deputies were hurt and the 52-year-old man is in critical condition at Wake Med.
Two deputies have been placed on administrative leave, which is normal procedure in these shootings, according to the sheriff’s office.
