ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Onslow Memorial Hospital celebrated the completion of its new $10.2 million outpatient medical office building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony ahead of its official opening next week.

The 37,800-square-foot facility, named Onslow at Burton Park, is located off Corridor Road outside Jacksonville and is scheduled to open its doors to patients on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Designed to serve as a centralized hub for outpatient and specialty healthcare, the facility houses more than 35 exam and procedure rooms. It brings together several specialties under one roof, including dermatology, general surgery, internal medicine, primary care, pulmonology, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) services.

Hospital leaders said the centralized setup will make navigating specialty care significantly easier for local patients.

“It’s creating a scenario where they don’t have to necessarily go from business to business and travel from one end of the county to the next for their healthcare,” said Dr. Penney Burlingame Deal, president and CEO of Onslow Memorial Hospital. “They can do that in one space.”

The building also features expanded diagnostic capabilities, including X-ray, ultrasound, and three laboratory draw rooms, as well as specialized audiology and vestibular balance testing suites.

Construction on the facility began in August 2025. Hospital officials noted the $10.2 million project to outfit and upfit the building was funded entirely through operational cash saved over several years, allowing the facility to complete the project debt-free.

Officials designed the facility to accommodate future clinical expansion as Onslow County continues to grow, with plans to add more primary care, audiology, and pulmonology providers in the coming years.

“We actually have room for growth so we’re gonna expand our service lines,” said Rachael Esterly, practice director for Onslow Groups. “We’ve added two audio booths and a vestibular testing so we can expand the service line as well. So really this is just gonna keep growing from here.”
