TARBORO, N.C. (WITN) - A Tarboro man is facing several charges after police say he was found with guns on two school properties.

Tarboro police say they were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle at Stocks Elementary School around 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

School staff told police the white car was parked near a tree line inside the school’s fence.

Police approached the car and found Jimmy Laughter inside. During an investigation, officers found three guns in the car.

Laughter was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a weapon on educational property and carrying a concealed firearm.

Police said that while investigating, they learned Laughter had been involved in a separate incident at Tarboro High School the day before.

The investigation prompted officers to charge Laughter with another three counts of possession of a weapon on educational property.

Laughter was taken to the Edgecombe County magistrate, where he received a $250,000 bond.

He will make his first court appearance today.

Police say the situation at Stocks Elementary School was brought under control when officers arrived on scene, and they do not believe there is any ongoing threat.
