CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A two-county chase last night led to the arrest of two Kinston men and the search for a third suspect.
Craven County deputies were called around 6:30 p.m. to Jimmy Smith Road and Highway 55 outside of Dover for shots being fired.
They saw two men shooting, and once spotted, the men got into a vehicle and took off toward Lenoir County.
Deputies say during the case, multiple passengers jumped out of the vehicle. It eventually stopped in Lenoir County, where the driver was taken into custody.
One person who bailed out of the vehicle got into a second vehicle, deputies say, and they were able to stop that vehicle and make an arrest.
A sheriff’s office K-9 was able to recover two guns that deputies say were thrown by the men.
Davin Best, 24, is charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest with motor vehicle, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting a public officer, possession of marijuana, speeding, reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of open container after consuming, while 33-year-old Ray-Shawn Wilson is charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting a public officer.
Deputies are still trying to find the other passenger who ran from the vehicle. That suspect is described as being a Black man with all black clothing and goes by the nickname “El”.
