ECU Baseball: Irby & Jacome join transfer portal

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Infielders Austin Irby and Carlos Jacome have entered the transfer portal on Wednesday. ECU Athletics confirmed Jacome to WITN, while Hoist The Colours broke the Irby news.

Irby had a big freshman campaign with the Pirates last year, batting .303 with 12 home runs, but took a step back this year, hitting .241 with five homers as a Sophomore.

Jacome transferred in from South Florida for this season, but batted just .215 in 65 at-bats while battling a hand injury.

They join Pirates like Michael Kalinich, Matthew Lashley, and Dawson Neal, who entered on Tuesday after playing this season in Greenville.

Irby will be a Junior next season, while Jacome has only one year left of eligibility.
