Greenville women’s health clinic closing after nearly 40 years
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A women’s health clinic in Greenville is shutting its doors after nearly 40 years of operation.
Physicians East announced that Greenville Women’s Care, located on Stantonsburg Road, will close on June 1, 2026.
Officials say that providers may be leaving the practice but will transfer to Greenville OB/GYN and Physicians East Arlington Main Campus.
In a social media post, the practice says it is thankful for the relationships and trust it has built with its patients over time, as well as its team’s unwavering commitment to women’s health.
WITN reached out to Physicians East for more information about the closure. A representative in corporate services told us, “We’re not going to make a comment at this time,” then hung up when we asked who we were speaking with. We tried calling again and have left a message.
The clinic has provided a patient letter that includes ways to transfer care to a different provider. You can find that letter here.
One patient says she was surprised by the news.
“I think its really unfortunate, it’s a great doctors office, the doctors here are great so its really sad to see them closing especially in just a few months,” Brittany Spellman said. “You know for those of us that are due later in the month well have to find new providers so that kind of sucks, but it was unfortunate hearing about the news.”
Patient Kaelyn Sutton who’s been diagnosed with endometritis and has been going to the care center since she was 13 says the care at the center is what saved her life.
“It gave me my life back,” Sutton said. “I was in extreme pain, and she was the first doctor to actually like listen to me and tell me that that much pain is not normal and she gave me a medication that saved my life.”
She says while adjusting to a new location and for others to new providers won’t be easy, she feels gratitude.
“I’m so grateful for you guys, you fight the good fight, I think a lot of women’s health is understudied and they do their best to make you feel heard and give you a level of care that you need,” she said.
