WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - A person is lucky to be alive after crashing his car into the water in Washington on Sunday.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says 65-year-old Librado Ponce was arrested last night after crashing into Jack’s Creek.
According to Director of Public Safety Stacy Drakeford, Ponce was traveling east on Third Street around 7:00 p.m., lost control, and ended up in Jack’s Creek.
Drakeford says Ponce was helped out of the water by law enforcement, cleared by EMS at the scene, and then taken to the Beaufort County jail.
Highway Patrol says he’s been charged with driving while impaired.
