Mark Robinson: “We are going to file a lawsuit against CNN”

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - Lt. Governor Mark Robinson continues to campaign across eastern Carolina for the Governor’s race, stopping Sunday in Craven and Onslow counties. He talked with WITN for an exclusive interview on the issues, and the recent CNN report saying he wrote numerous lewd and racist posts on a pornographic website some ten years ago.

Robinson said they are going to file a lawsuit against CNN and that should be coming sometime early next week. He said he wanted to be transparent in everything he has said and that he did not hide anything. He says he even went against advice to erase his Facebook page when he first ran for office, saying he wanted people to know exactly who he was.

Robinson says, “And so we take high exception to having words, false words, put in our mouths and having things crafted that we did not say and did not post being attributed to us so we’re definitely going to take CNN to task. We’re working on that now and news should be coming out soon.”

Asked about when the results of the investigation would be available, Robinson said, “We expect that to be available soon and we think when those results are published that people will understand that this was a political attack, politically motivated. We’re not sure, I’m not gonna discuss about who may have done it but we certainly know why they did it and the timing was very suspicious as well.”
