Rocky Mount officer on patrol hears gunfire, then finds murder victim

A Rocky Mount man is dead, the victim in the city's latest murder.
Police say the shooting happened around 9:45 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of Walnut Street.
An officer on patrol heard the shots, and then found Keenan Mercer had been shot. The 21-year-old man later died at UNC Nash Health Care.
