Fremont Town Clerk charged with embezzlement

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation charged Fremont Town Hall Clerk Martha Jones, with one count of embezzlement.
The 46-year-old had her first appearance in court Monday.
The SBI initiated the investigation Sept. 21, 2017 and found that Jones allegedly embezzled $5,000 from the Fremont Town Hall while performing her duties as town clerk.
She was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center on a $1,000 secured bond.
