Man wanted for Christmas Eve murder outside of Belhaven

BELHAVEN, NC (WITN) - Deputies are searching for a man wanted for the Christmas Eve murder of a Belhaven man.

Warrants were obtained today for the arrest of Jayquwan Newmones.

The 23-year-old is wanted for the December 24th shooting death of Timothy Moore. Moore's body was found by a passing motorist around 3:00 p.m. that day on a dirt road off of Beach Ridge Road outside of Belhaven.

Deputies say Moore had been shot.

In addition to the open count of murder, Newmones is wanted for robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony larceny of a motor vehicle.

Beaufort County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000.00 reward for any information leading to his location and arrest.

A passing motorists found the body of Timothy Moore on a dirt road off of Beach Ridge Road outside of Belhaven around 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

After over seven hours of processing the scene, investigators say they recovered over 30 pieces of physical evidence they believe is related to the murder.

An autopsy is being preformed Wednesday to determine an exact cause of death, while deputies say preliminary findings show Moore was shot.

Since the discovery, investigators have interviewed Moore's friends, family and anyone who might have come in contact with the victim in the hours leading up to his death.
