Man’s body found in Atlantic harbor

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - An investigation is underway after a man’s body was found in the water along the Carteret County coast.

Sheriff Asa Buck says the body of 78-year-old Kenneth Lewis, of Beaufort, was discovered around 7:20 p.m. last night in the Atlantic harbor.

The sheriff says no foul play is suspected, but that an autopsy will be performed on the body to pinpoint the cause of death.

Deputies say Lewis had just recently obtained a slip at the harbor for his boat.
