BATAVIA, Ohio (WXIX/Gray News) – A dog who spent more than 1,000 days in a shelter has finally found his forever home.

Billy Bob arrived at the League for Animal Welfare in Batavia, Ohio in April 2021.

The shelter made pleas online to find Billy Bob his forever family.

On Sunday, the almost 9-year-old dog was finally adopted.

The shelter said after receiving media coverage to find a family for Billy Bob, people from all over the United States contacted them to see if they would be the right fit.

The League for Animal Welfare said Billy Bob is going to a home where his new dad has experience with anxious dogs like him.

He will also have a new doggy sibling.

“THANK YOU to this amazing social media community who rallied to make sure a stout little pittie that’s scared of everything didn’t get left behind,” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post.

The shelter also encourages anyone who was interested in Billy Bob to contact their local shelters and ask about which dogs have been there the longest.
