School districts in Eastern Carolina are worried about seeing a spike in coronavirus cases among students and staff following the upcoming winter break, especially after the recent surge they saw following Thanksgiving.
The Carteret County School Board met in special session Thursday and voted to allow elementary school students to head back for face-to-face instruction.
Carteret County schools are just weeks from resuming classes with in-person and remote learning and district supporters are working to make sure children have the supplies they need.
