Medical examiner confirms names of elderly Wilson couple killed in murder/suicide

The Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the names of an elderly couple found dead Sunday night in their Wilson home.

The body of Don Pipkin was found inside the couple's Chelsea Drive home, while the man's wife, Kathleen, died the next day at Wake Med.

Police said both had been shot and they suspect it was a murder/suicide.

A neighbor said the couple both had health issues, and stayed inside their home most of the time.

Police have not released any more details about the circumstances of the shootings.

An elderly couple is dead after what police say appears to be an murder/suicide.

Wilson police say they were asked to check on a home in the 1700 block of Chelsea Drive Sunday night.

After a neighbor let officers inside, they found the man and woman both with gunshot wounds. Police say the man was dead, while the woman was critically injured. She died this morning at Wake Med in Raleigh.

Neighbors say the couple, who bought the home in 1993, both had health issues.

The names of the two dead people have not been released by police.
