Kinston native ends her run on Jeopardy

After three nights as Jeopardy champion and one as co-champ, Kinston native Catherine Ruth Hardee's run on the popular game show ended Monday night.

Hardee did not answer the final Jeopardy question correctly, while one other player did.

Hardee had quite a successful run, though, with total winnings at $95,201.


PREVIOUS STORY:

On her 4th night of Jeopardy, Kinston native Catherine Ruth Hardee ended as co-champ, which means she'll be back on Monday.

Hardee tied with one other contestant at $36,400.

Both of those contestants will be back Monday to face another opponent.

Hardee's four day total winnings now stand at $95,201.

For a third straight night, Catherine Ruth Hardee of Kinston was the winner on Jeopardy.

Hardee, a native of Kinston ended her third day with total winnings at $58,801.

Hardee is a graduate of Liberty University where she was a member of the quiz bowl and debate team.

Hardee will be back on Jeopardy Friday night, which you can see on WITN at 7:30.

Catherine Ruth Hardee of Kinston was a contestant on the game show Tuesday night.

Hardee is a graduate of Liberty University where she was a member of the quiz bowl and debate team.

The Kinston native said being a member of the quiz bowl at the Virginia university helped prepare her for the competition.

"To be a part of Jeopardy, where millions of people, they watch it every night eating dinner or as a family," says Hardee. "They watch it and try to answer the questions. Just to be a part of that is an extraordinary feeling."

To celebrate Hardee's spot on Jeopardy, a viewing party was held at Briary Run Church in Kinston.
