Law enforcement officers are being honored for their sacrifice and work in many ways this week.
Friday they were treated to a free lunch.
Officers and detectives in Pitt County dined with middle schoolers as part of National Police Officers Week.
Staff at C.M. Eppes Middle School cooked up hot dogs and hamburgers and served them up to Greenville and East Carolina University officers, and the Pitt County Sheriff's Office.
In addition to the free lunch, the officers got a chance to mingle with the students.
Officer Richard Williams is the school resource officer at the school, and helped put the event together with the staff and students.
Williams says, "It gives you the opportunity to build relationships with the kids, the parents know me, it's more of a community building effort so I enjoy what I do."
