Deputies say man broke into shed, started cooking meth and blew himself up

Deputies say a man was airlifted to the Chapel Hill burn center after a meth lab explosion Tuesday night.

Onslow County deputies say they responded to a breaking & entering and fire at a mobile home on Hubert Boulevard.

When they arrived, deputies found that William Allen, Jr. of Hubert had broken into a shed behind the home and was attempting to cook meth. Deputies say the man blew himself up in the process.

The trailer is vacant, and the owner suspects that's why it was targeted in this case.

Charges are pending against the 30-year-old Allen, while deputies say they expect other arrests as well.
