CSX Project Expected To End Major Greenville Train Traffic Issues Next Month

A project that has been chugging along for months to reroute train traffic in Greenville is picking up speed again to get drivers on track by June.

The CSX railroad switching station is almost ready to go in Greenville. The new facility on Staton Mill Road will end sporadic train delays. The new 2,000 square foot facility will allow track switching without causing congestion for street traffic on main city thoroughfares.

Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas says the CSX station has been a long time coming. "Really credit should be given to many councils through the years. There has been consistency in communication with CSX. I'm just very fortunate that we were able to close the deal and be the caboose, so to speak, on this entire process."

Construction crews say the station should be operating by June 7th.
