Brazen thieves struck a local courthouse, stealing a cash machine from its lobby.
The theft happened at the Martin County Courthouse in Williamston sometime between December 27th and December 29th. A visitor to the courthouse last Monday asked an employee where the ATM was located, and that's when it was discovered missing.
Based on marks on the floor, the machine was dragged out the front door of the courthouse. A Martin County Sheriff's Office report says while there were no signs of forced entry, the front doors could be pried open "fairly easily".
The ATM had $2,000 in cash inside, while it is valued at $3,500. It's owned by Brown Property Management of Greenville.
Anyone with information on the theft should call the Martin County Sheriff's Office at 252-789-4500.
