Aulander Woman Charged With Embezzlement From Greenville Business

An office manager at a local business has been arrested by the Greenville Police Department on embezzlement charges. This is not the first time the Bertie County woman has been accused of this type of crime.

Police say 42-year-old Susan Davenport of Aulander was arrested after her employer accused her of embezzling money. Davenport was the office manager of RIMTYME Custom Wheels of Greenville until February. That's when an internal audit found discrepancies in the accounting system, according to police. The business owner then went to the police. The investigation by Detective Corporal T.V. Woolard of the Greenville Police Financial Crimes Unit found Davenport had diverted more than $2,700 from client accounts for her personal use.

Davenport was charged with one felony count of embezzlement and jailed under a $15,000 secured bond.

Police say Davenport is already under indictment and awaiting trial for an alleged embezzlement from a previous employer in Northampton County, where she is charged with stealing more than $100,000.
