Allegiant Air Flies South; Drops Kinston Routes

By  |

The only airline flying into the Kinston Regional Jetport is flying south for the last time on March 31st.

Allegiant Air says it will stop its twice weekly flights to Orlando at the end of next month.

The Las Vegas airline has been flying out of Kinston since November 2006.

Allegiant Air spokeswoman Tyra Squyres tells WITN News that a lack of demand brought about the decision to pull out of Kinston. She said the airline had hopes passenger demand would have increased, but it did not.

Allegiant says airport officials in Kinston had been very supportive of their past efforts.

The Kinston fights will be replaced with ones in and out of Wilmington as the airline today announced it would start service there April 4th.
