For the second consecutive night, the Down East Wood Ducks drop a 1-0 decision, this time to the Frederick Keys Friday night at Harry Grove Stadium.

The Wood Ducks (28-19, 78-39) have now been held scoreless over their last 17 innings at the plate, dating back to the sixth inning of game one of their double-header against Carolina, Thursday. Down East went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, stranding seven men on base on the night.

Frederick got their lone run on a JC Escarra solo home run in the second inning, his 11th of the season.

It was the lone run Tim Brennan (loss, 4-1) would allow, as he gave up just two hits over five innings, walked one and struck out four. He also used two double-play balls to help him face just one over the minimum on the night.

Ofelky Peralta (win, 1-2) was slightly better for the Keys. He fired six scoreless innings, giving up three hits and three walks, while striking out six on the night. Kieran Lovegrove followed with two scoreless innings out of the Frederick bullpen, while Tim Naughton (save, 7) struck out two in a perfect ninth to earn the save.

Scott Engler also delivered 2.2 scoreless inning in relief for the Wood Ducks, striking out three.

The Wood Ducks and Keys play the middle game of their three-game series Saturday at 6 p.m. Right-hander Alex Eubanks (8-4, 3.06) will take the mound for Down East, opposed by fellow right-hander Brenan Hanifee (8-9, 4.63) for Frederick. The broadcast will begin at 5:50 p.m. on 960AM The Bull, and online at as well as on the MiLB First Pitch and TuneIn Radio Apps.
