CHOCOWINITY, N.C. (WITN) - Under sixth-year head coach Jeff Carrow, the Southside Seahawks are looking to improve upon their 5-8 record from last season.
Carrow says his team will be fast and tough on defense, while operating a balanced attack on offense.
Just one starter returns on offense, but nine return on defense.
Carrow says that his younger guys who got experience last season should pay off this season.
"We're looking for a much more positive season this year," said Carrow during the Coastal Plains media day Wednesday. "Our young guys took some lumps last year, but they made a commitment in the offseason. They worked hard in the weight room. Summer workouts have been outstanding. The team has grown together, and we're really looking forward to those young guys -- the experience they got last year -- really stepping up this year. So we're excited. We really are."
The Seahawks open their 2019 season on the road against the Ayden-Grifton Chargers on Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m.
