WITN EndZone Preview - South Creek

ROBERSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - With exactly one week until the 2019 high school football season officially kicks off, our WITN EndZone Preview series continues with the South Creek Cougars.

Will Harrell enters his fourth season in charger of the Cougars. His team finished with an 8-5 record last season.

Depth will once again be a concern for this football team, as just three starters return on offense and five on defense. The Cougars will have a new quarterback and running back in 2019.

"Depth is going to be an issue for us like it always is," said Harrell. "We have 23 players. The last two years we've had 25 or 26, so it's nothing new for us, but there is going to be a lot of sophomores and juniors that a lot of people haven't heard of because the crowd that just graduated was three-year starters. I think if we can avoid the injury bug, we could have a pretty decent season again."

Harrell says LB/RB Demorian Smith and DB/RB Darion Greene are two guys to watch out for this season.

The Cougars open their 2019 season on the road against Bear Grass on Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m.
