WITN EndZone Preview - Riverside

WILLIAMSTON, N.C. (WITN) - Under veteran head coach Asim McGill, the 2019 Riverside Knights will look to build upon an impressive 2018 season in which they compiled a 10-4 record.

The Knights went 4-2 in conference, finishing in third place in the Coastal Plains 1A standings.

However, Coach McGill's squad graduated 18 seniors following the 2018 season, which means he has a very young team this year. In fact, just three players return on offense and two on defense.

So, McGill is hoping guys like junior WR/DB Javion Griffin and sophomore WR/DB Jaylen Williams can lead the charge this year.

"My team, we're going to be a young team," said Asim McGill. "We graduated a lot of seniors last year. But the young kids have some talent. They're working hard every day in practice to try to get better, and that's just how it goes. We're trying to go 1-0 each week."

The Knights open their 2019 season by hosting the Bertie Falcons on Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m.
