Tarboro Football celebrates state championship with ring ceremony

TARBORO, N.C. (WITN) - The Tarboro Football team celebrated its 2018 1A state championship with a special ring ceremony Monday night inside the Tarboro High School gymnasium.

"The biggest thing for me is to see them love [the ring]," said Tarboro head coach Jeff Craddock. "They've earned it and just to see the excitement and to get everybody back together again in the gym one more time is just an awesome experience."

"It's a lot of hard work and dedication, a lot of stuff that people didn't see that went into it," said Tarboro senior Melik Ward. "It just paid off in the end. Not too many people get two rings. Not too many people win a championship. Undefeated. Back-to-back. It's special."

The Vikings open their 2019 season at home against Rocky Mount on August 23.
