GREENVILLE, N.C. – Junior thrower Ryan Davis has been selected the American Athletic Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Davis placed first in the weight throw and seventh in the shot put at the Liberty Kickoff last weekend in Lynchburg, Va. His personal best mark of 20.51 meters in the weight throw is the conference’s top mark thus far and ranks Davis 23rd nationally. It is also the fourth-longest toss in program history.
"The men's track and field team is extremely proud and excited to have Ryan Davis named the Male Field Athlete of the Week for the American Athletic Conference,” Director of Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. “This is truly testimonial to all of Ryan's hard work and dedication. I would also like to credit Coach David Price (Ryan's event coach) for being by his side for the past three years. These awards do not happen by accident. I truly believe that there are bigger things ahead for Ryan.”
ECU returns to action this weekend at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup on the campus of Penn State University.
