Player of the Week: Justin Wright

FARMVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Farmville Central junior guard Justin Wright is our newest WITN Pepsi Player of the Week!

"Well, probably the biggest compliment I can pay to Justin is that he's a competitor," said Farmville Central head coach Larry Williford. "He loves to compete. He's not afraid of competition."

Through 14 games, the junior guard is averaging 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

"I hope they just describe me as a dog," said Justin Wright when asked how he wants others to describe his game. "Somebody that works hard, never wants to lose, plays defense and offense, and looks for his teammates."

Wright said that his competitiveness stems from his favorite NBA player, Kobe Bryant.

"I love the 'Mamba Mentality,'" said Wright. "I just love it. I apply it to my game by going out every game saying that I'm going to do what I need to do. I'm going to do anything for my team to win."

"As the game gets grittier, he gets more competitive," Williford added.

Right now, Wright has offers from East Carolina, Old Dominion and Rice.

Then there are other programs like Cincinnati, Georgetown, Davidson, Oklahoma State, Western Carolina, Wofford, Yale and Princeton who have all shown significant interest, as well.

"Sky is the limit for him," said Williford. "Finish out this year strong. Have a good summer. There's no telling where he'll end up at."

Wright added that he could not have won this award without the help of his family, coaches and teammates.
