CHARLOTTE, NC -- Willie Smith's time in Carolina has come to a close after just eleven days with the team.

The East Carolina alum was signed for much needed offensive line depth, but the Panthers cut him and ten others this afternoon. Smith's contract has been terminated along with wideout Stephen Hill. The other nine were waived.

Smith entered the league with Washington in 2011, making the team as an undrafted rookie. He also played for the Raiders and Chargers before joining the Panthers. Carolina now has 79 players on its roster. They must reduce that roster to 75 by Tuesday and then cut it to 53 by Saturday.
