ECU football head coach Scottie Montgomery is confident in sophomore quarterback Reid Herring ahead of the 2018 season opener against North Carolina A&T this upcoming Saturday night at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

"He doesn't get rattled," said Montgomery during media day. "He communicates well, like you've heard me say over and over, and he's got some star power with his arm. He's got star power when it comes to moving out of the pocket and creating plays. Now we're better at offensive line but when it does break we've got a guy who can get off of the spot, so we feel really good about Reid [Herring]. We don't feel like he can be shaked, but the boy is mobile, and he can throw it."
