CHARLOTTE, NC -- Former East Carolina quarterback Kurt Benkert is set to begin his second season as a starter for Virginia and Friday, he represented the Cavaliers at the 2017 ACC Kickoff in Charlotte.
When asked about his days as a Pirate, Benkert said Greenville shaped who he is as a person and an athlete.
"Being at ECU helped put a chip on my shoulder," said Benkert. "Playing big schools and being an underdog in a lot of situations and being able to prevail and we were successful at ECU doing that. I think the mentality that you go into any game and expect to win it. That has helped build who I am."
