SNOW HILL, N.C. (WITN) - Greene Central basketball standout and former WITN Pepsi Player of the Week Imajae Dodd signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball at UNCW Friday afternoon inside the Greene Central High School library.
"Just the relationship that I have with [head coach C.B. McGrath]," said Dodd on why he picked UNCW. "[We] have a very good relationship, and when I went there on my official visit, it felt like a family atmosphere."
Dodd had offers from eight schools, including ECU, but chose the Seahawks.
"I think it's very special," added Greene Central head basketball coach Theodore "Blue" Edwards. "I've known him since he was in the ninth grade, and he's always talked about wanting to be a Division I basketball player. I just told him then to just continue to work. If you continue to work and develop your talent, one day you're going to be sitting down, signing a scholarship and wearing a uniform of somebody in college. And today it has come to fruition. I'm excited about coaching him this year. I think he's going to have a phenomenal senior season. I'm looking forward to it."
Dodd and the Rams open their 2018-19 season on Tuesday, November 20 at home against Eastern Wayne. Tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
