Former New Bern High School football player Mike Hughes announced via Twitter that he will forego his senior season at UCF and head to the NFL.
Here is the statement he released on Monday afternoon:
Dear Knight Nation,
After sitting down with my Mom, Dad and Sister evaluating the tough decision I had ahead, I have decided to forego my senior season at the University of Central Florida and make myself eligible for the 2028 NFL Draft. I would like to thank my family, loved ones, teammates, friends and all those that have been on this journey with me from the very beginning for your love and continued support throughout my career.
I would like to thank the University of Central Florida and Coach Frost for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love and help prepare me to take this next step. It has truly been an incredible journey to be a part of something so special at UCF and a team that will forever go down in history.
The NFL has been a life long dream of mine and after much thought and prayers, I feel I am ready to take on this next challenge ion my life.
