ECU freshman Jayden Gardner has been named Second-Team All-District 25 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
The NABC All-District teams are voted on by NCAA Division I head coaches in the district. District 25 is made up of coaches from the American Athletic Conference.
This is the latest accolade for Gardner who was named to The American All-Freshman Team by the conference’s 12 head coaches, and was voted all-conference and Rookie-of-the-Year by HDHoops.com. Gardner was named The American Freshman-of-the-Week five times during the season, and was selected National Freshman-of-the-Week by the United States Basketball Writers’ Association (USBWA) in early January.
He finished his rookie season averaging 16.3 points per game, highest average by a freshman in conference history, to go along with 8.5 rebounds per game. He also finished second in the conference in rebounding and 10th in scoring and field goal percentage (.493).
Gardner is the first ECU player to earn all-district honors since Maurice Kemp was tabbed second-team All-District 11 in 2013.
