GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - There will be no athletics director announcement from East Carolina University trustees today, that according to its chairman.
Kieran Shanahan made the announcement as the Board of Trustees began a special meeting this afternoon and immediately went into closed session.
The university has been without an AD since Jeff Compher agreed to a $1.25 million buyout in March.
Shanahan said their search for a new head of athletics continues in earnest.
This is a second special meeting for trustees in just over a month where they have gone into closed session to "consider confidential personnel information and consult with legal counsel".
Trustees met for more than two hours in a secret session on October 23rd.
There is also speculation that in addition to the athletics director position, trustees could also be discussing other personnel matters, including that of Chancellor Cecil Staton and Football Coach Scottie Montgomery.
Trustees stayed behind closed doors for a little over two hours and took no action in public session.
