East Carolina took advantage of a two-out, two-run error in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally past UNCW for an 8-5 win on Friday at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The 11th-ranked Pirates improved to 30-10 while the Seahawks dropped their sixth straight outing to fall to 20-22.
UNCW banged out a season-high tying 14 hits on the night with five players having multi-hit games. Noah Bridges had three hits and Greg Jones, Kep Brown, Cole Weiss and Brooks Baldwin each had two hits.
Henry Ryan (3-4) took the loss and Zach Barnes (2-2) earned the win. Alec Burleson earned his fourth save of the season.
Bryant Packard had three doubles on the night for ECU.
How it happened: After seeing the Seahawks take a 5-4 lead in the top of the eighth, ECU answered with four runs, one earned, in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-5 lead. The go-ahead run came across on a bases-loaded, two-out error.
