GREENVILLE, N.C. - ECU capped its first week of spring work with an extended "full-go" live team-on-team segment at Hight Field inside the Cliff Moore Practice Complex on Saturday.

The Pirates also moved from shells to full-pad mode during its fourth overall outing, which included a script of approximately 40 plays at the end of the session featuring the top three levels of the squad's current depth chart.

"Our quarterbacks played at a higher level than I initially thought they would and I liked our overall offensive tempo," ECU Head Coach Scottie Montgomery said, summing up ECU's initial week of practice. "Defensively, I've been really encouraged by our play in the secondary and the physicality of our tackling."

Sophomore Reid Herring keyed the top offensive unit, guiding the Pirates to a pair of scores on a six-of-eight, 93-yard passing performance. He connected with Terrell Green and Trevon Brown on 28 and 36-yard touchdown passes, respectively, while also picking up 17 yards on three rushes.

Senior Shaun James provided some highlights for the defense with two tackles for lost yardage, including a sack. Junior nickelback Devon Sutton posted the other quarterback drop on a safety blitz.

ECU will be back at work Monday and follow with practices on Wednesday and Friday before departing campus for the school's annual spring break (March 5-9).
