ECU baseball revises 2017 fall schedule

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU baseball team will hold its annual Purple-Gold World Series Thursday, Nov. 9 through Saturday, Nov. 11 fourth-year head coach Cliff Godwin announced Tuesday.
The three-day event, which is free to the public, will be played at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium with times to be announced at a later date. ECU’s Fall “Meet the Pirates” Event has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4.
ECU will conduct its first official practice on Thursday, Oct. 5, while Scout Day has been moved to Saturday, Oct. 28. The Pirates will scrimmage every Friday, Saturday and Sunday leading up to the Purple-Gold World Series.
Godwin and his staff officially welcomed 16 newcomers to campus in August, which features eight position players, seven pitchers and one two-way player.
The 2017-18 recruiting class, which garnered a No. 19 national ranking by Baseball America, consists of two infielders (Connor Litton and Collin Watt), three outfielders (Chandler Jenkins, Josh Netterville and Jeremy Whitehead), two catchers (Seth Caddell and Spencer Smith), one utility player (Bryson Worrell), one two-way player (Alec Burleson), and seven pitchers (Zach Barnes, Cole Beavin, Austin Covers, Noah Jones, Jake Kuchmaner, Willy Strong and Gavin Williams).
ECU returns 20 letterwinners, including 2016 Freshman All-American Dwanya Williams-Sutton, 2017 Freshman All-American Spencer Brickhouse and 2017 AAC All-Tournament Team selection Jake Agnos. In all, the roster consists of 11 freshmen, 10 sophomores, 11 juniors and four seniors.
